    A maintenance box is a consumable part of Epson ColorWorks printers.

    It’s basically a waste ink collector. Here’s what it does:

    During cleaning cycles and borderless printing, extra ink is flushed out.

    The maintenance box safely absorbs and stores this excess ink so it doesn’t leak inside the printer.

    Once the box is full, the printer will prompt you to replace it before continuing to print.

    So, it doesn’t affect print quality directly, it just keeps your printer clean and functional.
