Standard roll label stock wound on a 3″ core with a maximum outer diameter of 6″. Standard rolls are the most common format for desktop label printers, fitting the built-in roll compartment of most thermal transfer, direct thermal, and inkjet colour label printers. We stock standard rolls in a wide range of widths, lengths, and face materials for product labelling, shipping, asset tracking, and compliance applications.

Which printers use standard rolls

Most desktop thermal transfer and direct thermal printers accept a 3″ core roll up to 6″ OD, including popular models from Zebra, Honeywell, TSC, Datamax, and SATO. Inkjet colour label printers in this size class, including the Epson ColorWorks CW-C6000A, CW-C6500A, CW-C6500P, CW-C8000, and the Primera LX610, LX910, and LX2000, also use 3″ core standard rolls. If your printer has a 3″ core spindle and a roll compartment opening of at least 6″ in diameter, it takes standard rolls.

Standard rolls vs mini rolls

Compact inkjet colour label printers like the Primera LX500 and Epson CW-C4000 and the Epson TM-C3500 use a smaller 2″ core with a 4″ OD limit and require mini rolls instead. Standard rolls can be fed into a mini-roll printer from an external unwinder through the rear feed slot, but they will not fit directly inside the internal compartment. For all other desktop label printers, standard rolls are the default format. Contact our team if you are unsure which roll size fits your printer.
